Previously this year OnePlus launched the OnePlus Nord. It is the brand’s first mild range smartphone after the 2015 OnePlus X. The Nord’s launch indicated a shift in the plan for OnePlus. The company is going back to its roots by launching smartphones of affordable prices once again. The product portfolios of the company have variations now in presenting with the smart TV market under the OnePlus TV line. Now, OnePlus is may be ready to enter a new market: smartwatches. It seems like, the company may be making a smartwatch calling it OnePlus Watch.
Recently, a device with the name OnePlus Watch comes into view on the website of Indonesia’s IMDA regulatory body. The device is rolled as a Wearable Watch and its model name was W301GB however it doesn’t reveal any much information, like specifications, software, or design. It is expected that the device will run Google’s Wear OS and feature a Snapdragon Wear system-on-chip, most probably Snapdragon Wear 4100.
In the year 2016, OnePlus proved that the company was developing a smartwatch. “We had completed the design but we still decided to scrap it. We have to be focused,” The statement is said by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau during the 2016 Converge tech conference held in Hong Kong. Well, it is important to notice that OPPO, OnePlus’s sister company under the BBK Electronics umbrella, lately launched its own smartwatch in China and in India, so that could be the impetus for the development of an OnePlus Watch. Interestingly, the “supplier” listed in the IMDA certification is “SINOPPEL DEVICE PTE. LTD,” which is a business that was formerly registered as “SINGAPORE OPPO ELECTRONICS PTE. LTD.”
So most probably, OnePlus Watch could be launched in company with OnePlus’ late-year releases, which is likely to include the OnePlus 8T series along with a more affordable Nord device, which will be released in the market approximately at the same time. However, this is just a speculation as there are no certain proofs or evidence about this matter. But we will be informing you of the latest updates whenever we get any new news about it. So stay tuned.
